WANTED: Inspiring Editors and Journalists
CommunityService.org is seeking inspiring writers who want to use their talents to become part of something important and meaningful. But the pre-requisite is that you have to be an inspiring writer. Your work may start out with something as simple as researching a non-profit organizations, speaking to a few volunteers who may have worked for it and getting management’s perspective on the vision for their organization, but this information then needs to be turned into short yet thoughtful and inspiring piece of writing which can inspire “aspiring volunteers” to take action. You won’t just be a writer, you will be one of the inspirers.
We are envisioning a broad array of topics for you to chose and write about, for instance:
- Review of a new and exciting non-profit organization
- Volunteer spotlight (someone who is exceptionally inspiring and serves as a role model)
- Creative volunteering ideas (e.g. donating dress shoes for interviews)
- Important causes and their approach to activism
- Volunteering in schools (e.g. How students are making a difference)
- Volunteering as an effective way to shine as an applicant to top schools
- Who is responsible for teaching the importance of volunteerism
If you would like to be considered for this volunteering + internship opportunity, please send a short writing sample (~2-3 paragraphs) that you consider to be “inspiring“. Ideally, your writing piece would be related to a non-profit cause or an organization. If your writing piece is selected then you will be contacted for a phone interview appointment. Selected candidates will then be given login credentials to website’s editor interface. Candidates are expected to propose 2-3 topics and subsequently draft a piece on mutually agreed upon topic. Turnaround time is ~2-3 days. The post will be uploaded directly onto the website using editor interface and approved for publishing.
